Girl's high school softball is a Spring sport which runs from March through May with regional and state playoff held in late May.  Softball officials attend meetings weekly starting in February for training in preparation for the season.  Two-person umpire crews are assigned to all regular season games.  Three-person crews work regional and state contests.  Umpires are responsible for providing their own plate and base equipment and uniforms.  Depending upon an individual's ability to travel, umpires may be assigned to work games as far north as Tonopah and Panaca, Nevada and as far south as Needles, California, as well as games throughout the Las Vegas area.
